ColorSense uses your device's camera to capture a small central region of the frame. It converts the raw data to a standard color format and compares it against a palette of more than 45 named colors using CIELAB — a perceptual color space designed to approximate how human vision perceives color differences. The closest match is shown on screen and read aloud.

Tap the speaker icon in the bottom panel. When it shows sound waves, voice is active; when it's muted, voice is off. The app remembers your preference between sessions.

1. Point the camera at the first color you want to compare.
2. Tap the compare icon (two arrows) in the top-right corner. The current color is saved as your reference.
3. Point the camera at the second color. The app shows both side by side and tells you whether they are similar or different.
4. Tap the close (×) icon to exit comparison mode.

Tap anywhere on the camera preview (outside the buttons) to freeze the image and lock the detected color. Tap again to resume live detection. A lock icon appears at the top when frozen. Freeze mode is automatically disabled when you enter comparison mode.

Tap the flash icon in the top-right area. The button highlights when the flashlight is active. Tap again to turn it off. Note: the flashlight is not available on all devices.

Use a two-finger pinch gesture on the camera preview to zoom in or out. A zoom level indicator appears at the bottom when zoom is active.

Yes. All color detection and voice synthesis run entirely on your device. ColorSense does not require an internet connection and never sends data to any server.

Color names and voice language automatically follow your device's system language. Spanish and English are fully supported. If your device is set to another language, the app defaults to English.
